Full Ofsted Report

Encouraging Acceptable Behaviour

Children’s behaviour will change from time to time and may need to be discussed by parents and nursery staff, to find out the cause behind the change.  Staff will then be able to work with the child as an individual, in a sympathetic way

Children must not be kept separated from either staff or other children or threatened as a way of being punished.

Children are treated equally, and will be taught that there are boundaries to be observed and that simple, consistent rules must be kept.  These rules will be appropriate to their age and development and will help the children understand what is acceptable behaviour and what is unacceptable behaviour.

Unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with in a way which is appropriate to the child’s age and stage of development and will always include an explanation from the staff member.  Children will have an opportunity to discuss the incident.

Children will be encouraged to be kind and considerate to each other and to have respect for materials and equipment.

If a child’s behaviour causes concern, the Principal, Diana Thompson, will discuss with the parents how best to deal with it.

Bullying

Staff are particularly vigilant in recognising the first signs of bullying (be it physical or psychological) and will deal with any such incident immediately.  Parents will be notified and consulted where appropriate.

Where persistent bullying continues, the Principal reserves the right, following notification to parents, to ask for the child to be removed from the school either temporarily or permanently.
