In addition to the needs which all children have, some children may have special needs, and, like all other children they are admitted after consultation between parents, the Principal and our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (S.E.N.Co.).  We follow the guidelines set out by the Department of Education Code of Practice on identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs. We welcome and provide the appropriate learning opportunities for all children.

A child with special needs will have a member of staff, Diana Thompson S.E.N.Co. who will work in liaison with specialist staff to be involved with the monitoring and implementation of special learning programmes or treatment.

Integration will take place through a process of close working relationships with the child’s family and other workers.  A close liaison between any specialist worker and the child’s school worker will be established and a joint process for observation, assessment and record keeping arranged to enable us to monitor the child’s needs and progress on an individual basis.

Our staff attend appropriate courses whenever possible.
