The Montessori approach to teaching is to develop a child's potential to the full, academically, socially and emotionally. It aims to help the children reach their maximum learning potential at their own pace in an atmosphere where the teacher guides and directs in a carefully planned environment. At the same time it aims to generate security, trust and independence in the children which will prepare them to fit into any situation and to move onto primary education with confidence.

School

The children are accepted between the ages of 2 ½ (or term rising) and 5 years. The classes are a maximum of 24 children and each is supervised by two fully Qualified Teachers, a Qualified Assistant and a helper. The school is Montessori Accredited and an LEA Early Years Education Provider.

The curriculum incorporates:

Practical Life
Geography
Sensorial
History
Early Numbers
Cooking
Early Language
Arts and Crafts
Nature
Music and Movement
French
Fun Fitness

A fully comprehensive record is kept of every child's work, this allows us to introduce apparatus according to the child's ability at any given time.

The children have access to an enclosed garden play area and there are wonderful opportunities to appreciate the natural environment of the schools' setting.

Our aim is to ensure that your child thrives in a happy and secure environment and that they enjoy their early school days to the fullest.

The Montessori philosophy sees children as they really are and creates an environment which fosters the fulfillment of their highest potential - spiritual, emotional, physical and intellectual.

Dr. Montessori gave the world a scientific method, practical and tested, for bringing forth the very best in young human beings. She taught adults how to respect individual differences, and to emphasize social interaction and the education of the whole personality rather than the teaching of a specific body of knowledge.

The high level of academic achievement so common in Montessori schools is a natural outcome of experience in such a supportive environment. The Montessori method of education is a model which serves the needs of children of all levels of mental and physical ability as they live and learn in a natural, mixed-age group which is very much like the society they will live in as adults.
