Health & Safety
Manor Farm Montessori Nursery School accepts responsibility to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of both the children in their care and the staff, and will work to achieve a safe and healthy environment. The nursery school will at all times conform to the Local Authority Policy on Health and Safety. Illnesses and Infections If children become unwell at the nursery school they will be cared for and every effort will be made to contact the parents promptly. To this end it is important that the school is kept informed of any change in emergency contact numbers. Parents/carers will be informed of possible contact with contagious or notifiable disease, so that medical advice can be obtained. Parents/carers should also inform nursery staff of the possible exposure of children, to any contagious disease. Infectious diseases such as Diarrhoea, Sickness, Conjunctivitis, Chicken Pox, German Measles are highly contagious and may be a danger to pregnant mothers. Children who are ill will not normally be accepted into the nursery school, however children who are taking a prescribed course of medicine but are otherwise well, will be accepted. We reserve the right to refuse admission to any child who appears ill on arrival and to remove any child to hospital in the case of an emergency. Only medication prescribed by a Doctor or Qualified Homeopathic Practitioner can be given with written parental/carer permission. A book must be signed by the member of staff who gives the medicine and by the Principal or Deputy. Children who need to use nebulizers will not be excluded from the nursery school. Staff will be trained in the use of this equipment by health professionals or from parents/carers who have been trained. All medication will be kept locked away at the correct temperature.
